The birthday festivities

We had a fun Birthday Day for the boys. Jack and John are starting to think that it would be cool to have their birthdays on different days. Yes, good luck with that. Poor John was diagnosed with the beginning stages of pneumonia the day before (which by the way seems to be clearing up nicely with antibiotics). We started off as usual with decorations and presents. They both got a big truck, a mini -soccer ball and a basket ball outfit. (I know you are not supposed to call boys clothes "outfits", but that is what it was).

Jack opening his truck.
John opening his truck.
They love love love the basketball hoop. It has been a big hit. They are pretty good at it too. It's is so funny how sports are ingrained in little boys. Then Jack, Mom, Isabel and Lucy went to church. John was home recovering and it was my turn to go. Jack slept through all of sacrament meeting and even went to sunbeams by himself. So grown up (sigh!).

They wanted whole wheat pancakes for dinner. These pancakes where made from whole wheat flour and honey. I was sneaky and put in a little seven grain cereal and flax seed to the mix. They were delish!

The girls set the table for the dinner. Very festive!

After dinner we went out and made s'mores on the fire pit and while we were doing that we got a special visit from...

...Big G, the mascot's brother of the Harlem Globetrotters. (Isabel got this brilliant idea to make a costume out of the basketball hoop box. It was pretty funny. She sure did love the Harlem Globetrotters. She wants to be Special K for Halloween.)

Then we had cake. John wanted a Thomas cake and Jack wanted a Spiderman cake. This is the best we could do. We found a Spiderman candle, but we couldn't find anything Thomas for the cake. So, we got one of John's toys and stuck it on there. He thought it was a new one. We are not going to tell him any different, so shhhhhhh! I guess someday when he reads this he will figure it all out.

Happy 4th Birthday, Jack and John! Yay! Holy Crap! One more year to kindergarten!! Time sure flies!

What a fun day! It's going to be a challenge to try to make sure they have a birthday just for "them" but also try to keep it economical! I've already tried to start coming up with ideas for the girls. And haven't found an answer yet! If you come up with any good ones let me know!
Looks like you had a great day!
