Labor Day Camping
Every Labor Day Weekend for the past three years, we have gone camping as a family. The last two years we have been privileged to go camping with some ward members. It is not a "ward campout", just for the record. (So if you are in my ward and think this would be something fun to do, just let me know and I will give you some details on how to join the fun next year). There are families in the stake that have gone on a big camping trip every year and I always thought it would be fun to do, so I invited myself to tag along with some friends last year and I loved it and want to go again and again. The kids had an absolute blast!!!This year we went to Turquoise Lake, up near Leadville, CO.
This is Jack, helping his dad with the tent.
John has to do the manly stuff too.
The mornings were so cold. We huddled around a fire drinking hot choc. (Note to self: bring waaaaay more hot chocolate next year.)
These campouts would not be the same without Bro. Walker and his guitar. That guy is amazing and can make up songs better than Adam Sandler,
I am not even kidding.
These girls were inseparable. They just roamed from camp to camp being goofy and loving every minute of it.
Hollie was the master of the fire pit.
Hanging out at the beach. ( In this picture, I think I look like an old lady combined with a turtle or an old lady turtle, not that there is anything wrong with that.)
We spent about 20 minutes at the lake on Sunday afternoon. But we had to go back to the campground fast because of this...
ominous!
Jack was falling asleep on this rock then Ryan plopped down next to him and how cute are they?
We like to all eat dinner together.
I would have to say that I have a pretty good lookin' boyfriend!!
Hollie loves camping! Huh, Hollie?
We spent most of the weekend like this. We are still having some issues. Poor Jack is not going to be happy with me when he gets older.
The last night we were there, it rained and rained. We had to go to bed at 8:30pm, so we played shadow puppets. Gary still has it, he can do all the Star Wars characters and the voices. That was one of the things that won me over in college.
Oh, the joy of bedtime. They are always so precious when they are sleeping.Although, camping is a lot of work, it was awesome! We had the best time with some of the best people! We were glad that Hollie and Mckenzie could go with us. Next year we are going to get Ryan and Megan to join the fun. Right, kids?

Wow, you have way better pictures than I do. That was fun, but Ryan has to go next year, and I don't need to be PMSing!!! Thanks for inviting us:) Oh, I have some pictures to send you and I need the one of giving Mckenzie a bath in the bucket:)
What a blast!! I have been excited to read about your camping weekend. Would Gary pull out the Star Wars shadow puppets in Aspen? I pray he will!! I am excited to see you soon. I hope you can still run after your injuries (so sad!).
It sounds like fun, but in a tent? With 4 kids? In the rain? You are so tougher than I am! I demand at least a trailer with running water.
I love camping AND running. Like, we should totally be best friends.
And...I have a really, really good looking boyfriend too.
Although,I can't say "really, really good looking" without hearing a Zoolander voice.
That picture of Jack is soo funny. I love the expression on his face. Tell him I think hes funny!
