A Letter to Lucy

(I had such a great time writing Jack and John's letter that I thought I would write one to everyone. We will just move to the next one in line...Lucy)



Dear Lucy,
You love me. I mean you really LOVE me. You love me so much that you would rather not go to school just to be with me. You would rather not go to friend's houses, you would rather not go to church or primary and you love me so much that you hate it when I am not the one to take you to the bathroom. (sorry, was that embarrassing?) If you could, you would hug me all day long. If I would, you would let me scratch your back all day long. You love to make me pictures. You love to sit by me at church. You say you never want to get married because then you would have to move out of the house. But then, I say, well just buy the house next to me and then you think about it.

You don't like to buy your lunch because your lunchbox has pictures of you and me in it and you don't want to go a day without looking at them. That is so sweet. You ask me questions that tell me how you are feeling. For instance, you say, "Are you going to miss Eddy when we go to Aspen?" Then I say, "No, are you going to miss Eddy?" You say, "uh-huh."

You have a nickname too. Your nickname is "the goose". Your dad would sing you this song that said, "If your name is the goose, then where are your feathers?" When you were two, you would run around the house screaming before a trip to Utah and say, "I don't want to go to TO-TAH!" Then we would tell you to go and get your swimsuit. You would come back and say, "I have my Lu-Loot, mom."

You are cute. Do you think you will always love me this much? I have a feeling that I may have to be your roommate in college. I really had fun in college, it might not be all that bad. I do have to say that it is pretty flattering to have someone love me as much as you do. I bet there are a lot of people in the world that wished they were loved that much. So, I am lucky. I am a lucky mom.
