Pain is Temporary, Quitting is Forever...Lance Armstrong
Our R.S. President at church is a big Triathlete. She is awesome. This summer she started a group of us that have been training for our own triathlon. We meet monthly to talk about our training. Saturday we got a chance to try a mini version of our triathlon. We swam 1/4 of a mile, then biked 6 miles and ran 1 1/2 miles down at the Aurora Reservoir. The swimming kicked my butt. The water was so cold and I think I complained up until I got my face in the water and couldn't breathe anymore. Your face hit the water and that was it. Seriously, it was sooooo cold. All the swimming strokes that I learned went out the window and I ended up swimming on my back which made me zigzag the whole length of the lake. I was the last one out of the lake by at least five minutes or more. I wanted to quit, but I didn't. So bad, I wanted to quit.
After the swim, we headed up to the bikes. The bike ride was much easier thanks to my spinning class at Lifetime Fitness. Then we ran. It was hard for me to catch my breath in the run with all those different transitions. Plus, that is the first time that I have run since getting my stress fracture from the Salt Lake Half Marathon. Oh, but it was awesome. I am all pumped up to do the real thing.
It was so fun doing it with these ladies. They were awesome! We are winners! Yay!!!!!
Here we are in all of our glory. I need to get me one of those cool wetsuits.
