A Night in Bethlehem

For our ward Christmas Party this year we had "A Night in Bethlehem" We had this growing up back in my home ward. It is pretty cool. Everybody comes dressed up like bible times, you get a bag of gold and silver and you go around from store to store and buy things. We bought some baked good, a dreidel, a button game on a string, cheese and fruit and some bread. Then we went to "Bethlehem" (the gym) got taxed by the Roman Soldiers and sat on the floor on our blankets, ate our food and watched a reenactment of the Nativity scene. It was a really fun night.

This is my friend Christine. She was in charge of the bakery. I helped her decorate. I think it looked pretty cool and I made those dark brown cookies with wheat flour, of course.

I am not sure who took this picture, but Gary's head is a little chopped off. The boys wouldn't keep their stuff on. I was excited because I could reuse my nun outfit from Halloween. Good Times!

The Roman Soldiers...
Here we are in Bethlehem. It was so cool, they had lights strung all the way from wall to wall and they hung low along with some toole. It was very pretty. I helped decorate the night before until about 10:00pm. We put a big parachute in the foyer so that it looked like you were walking through a big tent.

The old bishop made that backdrop at his work. It was a huge canvas with stars and an outline of Bethlehem in the distance. They read the Nativity out of the bible and added songs here and there. It was very nice.

I am grateful for this time of year that we can celebrate the birth of the Savior and to remember Him and the sacrifices he has made for us. It is also fun to have a little Santa Claus, family, friends, and good food in there too.

Wow, that looked really cool! I LOVED the bakery! You guys really pulled it off. I'm glad you took pictures of it.

Although, in the picture where you are all sitting down under the lights.....you either need to clean your lenses or you had a ton of spirit orbs around that night. It's freaky looking.

sounds like fun. Our pathetic ward of about 70 active members were supposed to have a christmas breakfast, but it was cancelled when we had an ice storm. So nothing.
