Well, Hollie could not post about girls camp because she was not there and that is why she came to Denver...to watch my kids. I work with the youth at church and the Young Women's President said to me, "How would you like to go to camp?" I say, "uh, okay." Then for awhile there I was thinking...
I wonder when the best time to tell her I can't go would be (because I didn't really have anyone to help with the kids for four days). Then Hollie swoops down like Supergirl...no...like Wonder Woman in her
invisible jet and saves the day! Thanks Hollie! You're the best! I am also glad I could help in your decision making process in which you were wondering whether to have more kids or not. I think you came to the "or not" conclusion. But you will forget, we all do.
Anyway, back to Girls Camp. I was originally supposed to be with the second year girls, but got switched to a first year unit last minute. I was in charge of 8 girls about 11-12 years old. We went to Pickle Gulch just past
Blackhawk. It was very nice, I had never been there before.
The first day I was the coolest leader ever and they loved the name I gave them(okay, really Gary came up with it..we were
The Mackinaw Mudhens). They would say things like "You are so laid back." "You don't act like a mom." "We have the coolest unit name." "This is going to be the best camp ever!" Well, that first night I had throw up and a panic attack. Not me, one of the girls, so I forgot to get these trading cards that I was supposed to get because...Hello..throw up. So, the next day, I was the worst leader ever, our name sucked and this is the worst camp ever. Oh my! Finally, I did get the cards, so luckily I was back on top again within a day. Anyway, I ended up being cold, wet, annoyed, sleep deprived and really dirty, but I had a great time and I am glad I did it.
Here are some pictures...

This is the group of girls I got to hang out with. I couldn't have asked for a nicer group. They all got along so nicely.

This is my babysitter, Rachel, and her friend Kendall. They are funny girls.

This is a picture of some of the girls in the ward. Jennifer is in the middle with the blue hat on and she lives across the street from me. She is a good buddy. She broke right through a board with her bare hands...well...hand. I guess that is a new thing for certification for fourth year girls. I never had to do that, but I wish I did, it looked cool. She did it on her first try. Way to go, Jennifer!

This is the skit the girls worked on. I just let them make it up themselves. Basically, it was about this dumb camper who gets lost in the woods and meets a bear, a tree and a unicorn. She is so dumb that she offends them all and they end up chasing her away. Afterwards, they were like, "Our skit was so funny. It was the best one ever." and said, "Oh yes, so funny." It was a little hard to watch, it was like watching my own kids getting up there and hoping that they don't get booed off the stage. They had fun, that is all that matters, I guess.
